About Me

Hi! I’m Courtney, the lead editor and founder of 56° North Editorial Services.

As an editor, I believe that clear and concise writing provides the foundation for success. Your message, mission, and ideas matter and your writing should reflect these without ambiguity. At 56° North Editorial, I work with you to bring out the best in your writing and help you achieve your professional and organizational goals. I work with academics and scholars, journalists, research institutes and nonprofit organizations.

With over a decade of experience studying and working in academia, I am committed to continuous learning. I invest in my professional development and use up-to-date software and tools to improve efficiency and ensure accuracy of edits. I am also a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association and ACES: The Society for Editing.

As for the name, 56° North is a nod to my love of cold northern climates, expansive open spaces, and the places I’ve lived, loved, and studied. It also reflects my interest and expertise in post-Soviet Russia and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, and Central Asia.
